The KENNAMETAL 3754008 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SNMG643RN geometry, coated with a multilayer CVD system consisting of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3. Manufactured under the KCP40 grade, it is engineered for high toughness in steel applications and moderate wear-resistance with toughness in stainless steel machining. The insert features a 3/4 inch inscribed circle, a 1/4 inch thickness, and a 3/64 inch corner radius with a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. Eight cutting edges are available per insert, providing extended tooling economy. The RN chip breaker is designed for roughing and medium machining operations. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in turning center and lathe applications.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The square 90-degree insert shape with negative rake and negative side clearance makes it appropriate for use in rigid, stable setups where depth of cut demands and surface finish requirements are balanced. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with KENNAMETAL KENLOC toolholding systems that accept SNMG-style inserts secured by clamp or pin methods.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC series toolholders that accept SNMG-style inserts with clamp or pin holding methods. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel (P-grade) and stainless steel (M-grade) workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate KENNAMETAL KENLOC clamp or pin hardware to secure the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before taking any cut. Inspect the insert seat and pocket for chips or damage before each insert change to maintain proper seating and dimensional accuracy.
