The KENNAMETAL 3753898 is a TNMG332RP-style solid carbide turning insert in the KCK20 grade, designed for precision metal removal in turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries a multilayer PVD coating with AlTiN and AlCrN layers, delivering thermal and abrasion resistance during high-speed cuts on ferrous materials. The insert features a 60-degree triangle shape with a negative rake angle and a chamfered-and-honed cutting edge for controlled engagement. With 6 usable cutting edges and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for general-purpose and finishing passes where consistent edge geometry is critical. It belongs to KENNAMETAL's KENLOC series and is held by clamp or pin mounting systems.
This insert is intended for use in CNC lathes and manual turning centers in production and job-shop environments. It is rated for primary workpiece materials of steel and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. Typical applications include external turning, facing passes, and light boring cycles where a triangular insert geometry and moderate depth of cut are appropriate. The RP chip breaker designation is optimized for effective chip control across a range of feed rates and depths. Machinists and CNC operators in industrial manufacturing, tool rooms, and contract machining shops are the primary users of this insert type.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting TNMG-style inserts with a 0.150-inch hole diameter and clamp or pin retention. Suitable for steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) workpiece materials. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for TNMG insert geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tool-room technicians. Power down the machine and engage the spindle lock before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener to secure the clamp or pin - do not overtighten or substitute hardware. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge alignment.
