The KENNAMETAL 3753529 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the SNMG542RN designation and KCP25 grade. It features a multilayer MTCVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating that delivers moderate wear resistance combined with toughness across a broad range of cutting conditions. The insert has a 5/8-inch (0.6250-inch) inscribed circle, a 90-degree square shape, a 1/4-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. With 8 usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it suits high-utilization production environments where insert cost-per-edge matters. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling steel and cast iron work will find this insert a direct fit in KENLOC-series toolholders.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations where roughing and medium machining chip loads are common. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, with the KCP25 grade also rated for aluminum and non-ferrous applications at moderate wear-resistance and toughness levels. The RN chip breaker geometry supports interrupted and continuous cuts at moderate feed rates. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), making it appropriate for medium stock removal passes rather than light finishing work. It is secured using clamp or pin holding methods compatible with standard SNMG-style toolholders.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting SNMG-style inserts. Compatible holding methods include clamp and pin. Meets ANSI and ISO standards for SNMG542 (ISO designation SNMG150608) inserts. Material grade classifications C2, C3, C6, and C7 apply.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Seat the insert firmly against all pocket surfaces before torquing the clamping screw or securing the pin to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the pocket for chips or debris before seating a new edge; a contaminated pocket will rock the insert and accelerate edge chipping. Verify depth-of-cut and feed parameters do not exceed the 0.0492-inch maximum depth of cut for this insert geometry.
