The KENNAMETAL 3752109 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT style, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the KCK05 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD coating combining TiCN and Al2O3 for elevated wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert has a 35-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a honed cutting edge. With a positive rake geometry and a screw-on holding method, it is built for reliable, repeatable performance in high-volume turning applications targeting steel and cast iron workpieces.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations in both production and job-shop environments. It performs on steel and cast iron primary workpiece materials, classified under material codes P and K, with secondary compatibility for non-ferrous materials under code N. The LF chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during light-to-medium depth-of-cut passes, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking trades will find this insert appropriate for general-purpose lathe work where consistent edge life and finish quality are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for VBMT-style screw-on toolholders. Suitable for turning applications on steel and cast iron workpieces per primary material codes P and K. Meets ANSI and ISO insert standards. Industry standard number VBMT332LF.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clear of the work zone before seating or replacing the insert. Secure the insert using the appropriate screw torque for the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the seating pocket for debris or wear before installing a new insert to maintain dimensional accuracy.
