The KENNAMETAL 3751950 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation DNMG331FN and ISO designation DNMG110404, engineered for precision finishing operations on steel and cast iron. The insert features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 under grade KCK05, delivering high wear resistance across both steel (P) and cast iron (K) workpiece categories. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, negative rake geometry, and honed cutting edge style make this insert well suited for demanding finishing passes where surface quality and tool life consistency are priorities. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments.
This insert fits within the KENLOC series and is designed for use in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. With four available cutting edges and neutral hand orientation, it offers versatile deployment across a range of lathe and turning center setups. The FN chip breaker is optimized for finishing cuts, and the insert is held by clamp or pin methods in compatible toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, with secondary compatibility in the N material category.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts with clamp or pin holding methods. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for DNMG331 and DNMG110404 insert designations. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat tolerance before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine tool before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not substitute clamp screws or pins. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate positioning.
