The KENNAMETAL 3751862 is a CNMG432RP turning insert in the KCK05 grade, designed for high-wear-resistance machining of steel and cast iron. It features a solid carbide substrate with a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 MTCVD CVD coating for extended tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The insert measures 12.90 mm (0.5077 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The RP chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining operations. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides four usable cutting edges with a neutral hand orientation and negative rake angle, making it a versatile option for turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is suited for use on CNC turning centers and manual lathes in both roughing and medium-duty cutting passes on steel (P-class) and cast iron (K-class) workpieces. The negative side clearance and chamfered, honed cutting edge style support stable, chatter-resistant cuts at moderate to high material removal rates. It is held in place using a clamp or pin system and is compatible with KENLOC-series toolholders. Secondary workpiece material class N is also supported. The insert conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO insert code CNMG120408, supporting standardized toolholder selection across platforms.
Designed for use with KENLOC-series toolholders accepting CNMG432 (ANSI) or CNMG120408 (ISO) inserts with clamp or pin holding. Applicable to turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret or toolpost must be in a safe, indexed position before seating or replacing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp screw, and verify insert seating before resuming cuts.
