The KENNAMETAL 3751603 is a TPMT2151LF-geometry solid carbide turning insert in manufacturer grade KCP25. It carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 applied by MTCVD process, delivering moderate wear resistance with a balance of toughness suited to finishing and light machining operations. The insert measures 11 mm in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. Its 60-degree triangular shape provides three usable cutting edges, and the positive rake geometry with an 11-degree relief angle reduces cutting forces on the workpiece. A screw-on holding method secures the insert in the toolholder. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The LF chip breaker is optimized for finishing and light machining passes where surface finish control and close tolerance work are the priority. Grade KCP25 is rated for steel (ISO P) and aluminum and non-ferrous materials (ISO N) at moderate to high toughness levels. The positive side clearance and honed cutting edge style help protect the edge during entry and light interrupted cuts. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches).
Designed for use in screw-clamping toolholders accepting TPMT-style triangular inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch thickness. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpieces.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC lathe operator. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the insert clamping screw to avoid seat damage or insert cracking - refer to the toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
