The KENNAMETAL 3751590 is a solid carbide turning insert with grade designation SCMT3252LF in KCP25 multilayer CVD coating. The insert features a TiCN plus Al2O3 MTCVD coating applied over a carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability for metal cutting operations. It carries a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The LF chip breaker geometry combines a positive 5-degree rake angle with a honed cutting edge style, making it well suited for finishing and light turning passes on steel and cast iron workpieces. Four usable cutting edges are available per insert. The screw-on holding method secures the insert in compatible toolholders during cutting.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P and K. It is appropriate for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes wherever an SCMT-style screw-on insert seat is present. The KCP25 grade is positioned for general-purpose finishing to semi-finishing cuts at moderate to high cutting speeds. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left- and right-hand toolholder configurations that accept SCMT geometry inserts.
Designed as a screw-on SCMT-style insert for use in toolholders with an SCMT 3252 insert seat. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring applications on steel and cast iron. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for SCMT insert geometry. Material grades C2, C3, C6, and C7 apply per catalog classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer's lockout and energy isolation procedures before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the screw-on insert to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method without overtightening the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert. Confirm cutting edge orientation and chip breaker direction relative to the workpiece before resuming machine operation.
