The KENNAMETAL 3749500 is a WNMG332MN KCP10 grade solid carbide turning insert from the KENLOC series, designed for precision metal cutting in lathe and turning center operations. The insert features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3, providing high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. With an 80-degree trigon shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it is suited for roughing and medium machining operations. The MN chip breaker geometry delivers reliable chip control across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators install this insert in compatible KENLOC toolholders.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron as the primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability on aluminum and non-ferrous metals. The 80-degree included angle and negative rake geometry make it well suited for interrupted cuts and general-purpose stock removal in both roughing and medium-duty passes. A maximum depth of cut of approximately 0.049 inches supports controlled material removal in production environments. The six cutting edges maximize tool utilization per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume turning applications.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC series toolholders accepting WNMG332 inserts with clamp or pin holding methods. Conforms to ANSI insert code WNMG332 and ISO insert code WNMG060408.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and all motion arrested before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
