Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3749468 is a CNMG543MN KCP10 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for high-productivity metal removal in turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert features a multilayer MTCVD coating combining TiCN and Al2O3, delivering high wear resistance on steel and cast iron. It carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake and side clearance geometry. The 5/8-inch inscribed circle and 3/64-inch corner radius are suited to medium and roughing chip load conditions. Four usable cutting edges extend tool life between index cycles.

This insert is intended for roughing and medium machining passes on steel (ISO P workpiece material) and cast iron or non-ferrous materials (ISO N workpiece material). It fits toolholders in the KENLOC series and is secured by clamp or pin holding methods. Typical applications include external turning, facing passes, and internal boring on CNC lathes and turning centers in production shops and job shops handling ferrous components. The KCP10 grade balances high wear resistance on steel with moderate toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous alloys.

Key Features

  • MTCVD multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 coating for extended tool life in steel and cast iron
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape (CNMG) with negative rake for stable, heavy cutting geometry
  • MN chip breaker geometry optimized for roughing and medium machining operations
  • Four cutting edges per insert to maximize cost-per-edge value
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge style for edge strength and controlled entry
  • Compatible with both clamp and pin insert holding methods in KENLOC toolholders

Compatibility

Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting CNMG543 inserts. Conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG543 and ISO insert code CNMG160612. Multi-use application includes turning, facing, and boring operations.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket surfaces before tightening the clamp or pin to prevent micro-movement during cutting. Inspect the pocket seat and clamp hardware for wear or debris that could affect insert seating and dimensional accuracy.
