The KENNAMETAL 3748367 is a CNMG432FF solid carbide turning insert in grade KCP05, featuring a multilayer MTCVD TiCN and Al2O3 coating for high wear-resistance in steel and moderate wear-resistance with toughness in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.5077 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. It carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, negative rake, and an FF chip breaker optimized for finishing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production turning environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for turning, facing, and boring applications across steel and cast iron workpieces, with secondary capability in non-ferrous materials. It fits KENLOC-series toolholders that accept CNMG432 geometry inserts. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both right- and left-hand setups where the toolholder permits. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), making it best suited for light finishing passes rather than heavy roughing. The four cutting edges maximize cost-per-edge value in high-volume turning programs.

Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool-crib technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping pin are clean and free of chips before placing the insert to avoid seating errors that can cause premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications for the clamp screw, as over- or under-torquing affects insert stability and surface finish.
