The KENNAMETAL 3690482 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for the KSEM Plus modular drilling system. Identified by ISO number KSEMP1800HPGM, this insert features an 18mm (0.7087 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The fine-grain solid carbide substrate carries the KC7315 manufacturer grade, delivering wear resistance and edge integrity in demanding metal-cutting applications. It installs via clamp-style insert holding into compatible KSEM Plus drill bodies. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production drilling environments are the primary users of this insert.
This replaceable tip insert is suited for drilling operations in a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. The HPG insert geometry supports consistent chip formation across these material groups. With a flute length of 9mm and a helical, regular-spiral flute type, it is intended for moderate-depth drilling passes in both horizontal and vertical machining center setups. It is sold individually and is a direct component of the KSEM Plus replaceable tip drilling platform.
Designed for use with KSEM Plus series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 1 at 18mm diameter. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S).
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians using the clamp mechanism on the host KSEM Plus drill body. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool de-energized before insert removal or installation. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or clamp key for proper seating — do not overtighten by hand or with improvised tools. Verify insert seating and runout before returning the tool to service.
