The KENNAMETAL 3660002 is a polycrystalline diamond (PCD) turning insert designed for high-speed machining of non-ferrous metals and aluminum. Carrying the industry standard designation CPGW3251FST and manufactured to grade KD1425, this single-tipped insert delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a flat top chip breaker, a positive rake angle, and a sharp cutting edge style. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches, insert length is 9.67 mm (0.3808 inches), and insert thickness is 5/32 inches. The bright, uncoated PCD substrate is optimized for finishing and semi-finishing cuts where surface integrity on non-ferrous workpieces is critical.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals including aluminum alloys, copper, and similar materials classified under material grades N05 and N10. The screw-on holding method provides reliable clamping in compatible toolholders. The positive side clearance and neutral hand orientation make it adaptable across a range of setups. A maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches) makes it most effective in light to moderate material removal passes where edge sharpness and surface finish are the primary concerns.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use PCD turning insert conforming to ANSI insert code CPGW3251 and ISO insert code CPGW09T304, for use in compatible screw-on toolholders accepting CPGW-style inserts.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the screw-on clamping mechanism and verify the insert seats fully and evenly in the pocket before resuming operation. Handle PCD inserts with care, as the cutting edge is brittle and susceptible to chipping from impact or improper seating.
