The KENNAMETAL 3642029 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation EDPT10T312PDERHD and ANSI code EP1012EHD. Manufactured in the KC725M grade with a TiAlN PVD coating, this single-sided, right-hand insert features a parallelogram shape with a 70-degree included angle, positive rake geometry, and a honed cutting edge style. It measures 0.4750 inches in length, 0.2654 inches in width, and 0.1476 inches in thickness, with a corner radius of 0.0470 inches (3/64 inch). The HD chip breaker geometry and 15-degree relief angle are engineered for controlled chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces in demanding milling operations. Installation is by screw-holding method. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians install this insert in compatible indexable milling cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material grades P, M, and S, and material grade classifications C5, C6, and C7. It is designed for use in face milling, shoulder milling, and pocketing operations where consistent edge performance across difficult-to-machine materials is required. The EDPT series and Mill 1-10 cutter series compatibility make it applicable in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard indexable tooling procedures. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to drive the clamping screw to the cutter body torque specification provided in the cutter body documentation — do not estimate torque by feel. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw threads for chips or damage before installing a new insert.
