The KENNAMETAL 3640769 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. It features a 21/64-inch (0.3281-inch) diameter, a 140-degree split point, and an AlTiN coating that extends tool life in abrasive and high-heat cutting conditions. The overall length is 4.0551 inches (103.00 mm) with a 2.4016-inch (61.00 mm) flute length. The drill meets DIN 6537K specification and includes a web-thinned, tapered web design to reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals install this drill in CNC machining centers and conventional drill presses.
This drill is suited for production drilling in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys — materials that demand a rigid, heat-resistant tool. The straight cylindrical shank (0.2500-inch diameter) seats in standard ER collet chucks and drill chucks without modification. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deep-hole drilling up to 49.00 mm. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting edge, making this drill practical for high-speed, high-feed operations in job-shop and production environments alike.
Rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard ER collet systems and drill chucks sized for a 0.2500-inch shank diameter.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Confirm spindle and workholding are fully secured and the machine is in a safe, ready state before inserting or removing the tool. Use the appropriate collet or chuck rated for the 0.2500-inch shank diameter and verify runout with a dial indicator before production drilling. When using coolant-through capability, confirm coolant supply pressure is within the machine spindle's rated range before starting the cut.
