The KENNAMETAL 3637573 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for precision external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the NG3062K insert style with a KC9320 manufacturer grade, this insert features a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating that provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. The cutting width is 1.58 mm and the maximum depth of cut is 2.39 mm, making it well suited for narrow-groove and part-off work in ferrous materials. It is clamp-held and configured for right-hand operation. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert as part of a Top Notch toolholder system.
This insert is intended for use in metalworking applications where consistent groove geometry and surface finish are required. The K chip breaker geometry helps control chip flow in materials classified under C3 and C4 material grades, which generally correspond to cast iron and harder ferrous alloys. The 55-degree included angle and 0.19 mm corner radius contribute to controlled chip formation in moderate to heavy interrupted or continuous grooving passes. Typical environments include precision machining shops, production turning cells, and aerospace or industrial component manufacturing.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL Top Notch series toolholding systems accepting the NG insert style, size 3062. Compatible with C3 and C4 material grade workpieces as classified by the insert grade KC9320.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator using the appropriate clamp and Top Notch series toolholder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Verify clamp torque with the toolholder manufacturer specifications and confirm insert seating before resuming cutting operations. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut range of 2.00 to 3.00 mm for this insert size.
