The KENNAMETAL 3580865 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, 7/8 inch length of cut, and five spiral flutes at a 38-degree helix angle, this tool delivers aggressive material removal with strong chip evacuation. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and hardened materials. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with right-hand fluting, and features a variable index geometry for improved surface finish and reduced vibration. Manufactured to UCDE series specifications in material grade KC634M, it is suited for production machining environments.
This end mill is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, and H. The 3/8 inch shank diameter matches its cutting diameter, and the 2-1/2 inch overall length fits standard tool holders used in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC milling setups. It is not center-cutting, so plunge operations are not recommended. A non-chipbreaker, non-extended-reach configuration makes it ideal for conventional side milling, slotting, and profiling passes where controlled chip load and tool rigidity are priorities.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch collets, end mill holders, or shrink-fit tooling. Suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials in CNC and manual milling applications per the UCDE series designation.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Secure the shank fully within the tool holder to the minimum engagement depth recommended by the holder manufacturer to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Do not use this tool for plunge cutting, as it is not center-cutting. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear or chipping before each use and replace when tool life indicators are reached.
