The KENNAMETAL 3381628 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity drilling in demanding metalworking environments. The cutting tip measures 1.0106 inches (25.67mm) in diameter and features an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, delivering heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The HPL insert geometry and solid carbide tip material make this drill well-suited for licensed machinists and tooling specialists running production drilling operations on CNC equipment.
This drill is rated for use across a broad range of primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material grades P, M, K, N, and S. The KSEM replaceable tip design is typically deployed in production machining environments where tip changes without removing the drill body from the spindle reduce downtime. The 140-degree drill point angle suits standard entry and exit conditions, and the two-flute helical configuration supports reliable chip evacuation in through and blind-hole applications. Compatible with inclined exit and stacked plate drilling operations as noted in the application data.
Designed for use with KSEM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 5. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO grades P, M, K, N, S). ISO number KSEM1011HPL. Coolant-through is not supported on this tip.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with KSEM-style replaceable tip drill systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating the carbide tip. Use the appropriate torx or clamping wrench specified for the KSEM seat size to secure the tip without over-torquing the clamp. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new tip to ensure proper contact and runout.
