The KENNAMETAL 3381195 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding production environments. The drill accepts an KSEM0969HPL insert tip with an HPL geometry and is coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, delivering heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The cutting diameter is 31/32 inch (0.9689 decimal inch / 24.61 mm), with a 140-degree included point angle and a helical, regular-spiral flute form. The insert is held by a clamp mechanism and seats in an Insert Seat Size 5 pocket. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in metal-cutting operations.
The KSEM series replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The HPL insert geometry supports drilling on inclined exit surfaces and stacked plates in addition to standard through-hole and blind-hole applications. The 2-flute, 2-margin design with a 12.00 mm flute length and 0.4845 inch functional length is intended for short, rigid drilling cycles in CNC machining centers and automated drilling equipment.
Designed for use with KSEM series drill bodies accepting Insert Seat Size 5 and compatible with KSEM0969HPL replaceable tip inserts in the KSEM platform.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate Kennametal torque wrench or clamp tool specified for KSEM seat size 5 to secure the insert — do not use improvised tooling that could damage the seating surface. Verify insert seating and clamping before returning the tool to service. Follow shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool presetting and offset entry.
