The KENNAMETAL 3381182 is a carbide replaceable tip drill built for high-performance hole-making in demanding production environments. It belongs to the KSEM series and accepts an KSEM1188HPL insert with HPL geometry, held in place by a mechanical clamp. The cutting tip is made from solid carbide in the KCMS15 manufacturer grade with a fine-grain material structure. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during dry or semi-dry cutting. The 140-degree drill point angle is suited for standard point entry on flat and curved surfaces. Cutting diameter is 1.1874 inches (30.00 mm). This tool is installed and operated by machining professionals and CNC setup technicians.
The KENNAMETAL 3381182 is designed for drilling in a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S). Application suitability extends to inclined exit drilling and stacked-plate drilling, making it applicable in aerospace, general machining, and heavy manufacturing contexts. The helical flute design with a regular spiral promotes chip evacuation throughout the cut. The 2-flute, 2-margin configuration supports bore accuracy and stability during through-hole and blind-hole operations.
Designed for use with KSEM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 8 and the KSEM1188HPL replaceable tip insert. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before replacing the insert tip. Use the appropriate torque wrench and Kennametal-specified clamp screw to seat the insert; do not over-tighten or substitute fasteners. Verify runout and tool projection with a dial indicator before resuming production cuts.
