The KENNAMETAL 3381161 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in a wide range of metalworking applications. The drill accepts the KSEM2050HPLM insert, a solid carbide tip with an AlTiN PVD coating and HPL insert geometry. It runs a 20.5mm cutting diameter with a 140-degree included angle and a 2-flute helical configuration. The insert is secured by a clamp-style holding method, allowing quick tip changes without removing the drill body from the spindle. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this drill on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following the machine tool manufacturer lockout procedure before any insert change. Use the correct torque tool or clamp key specified by KENNAMETAL for the KSEM seat size 3 to avoid over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new tip. Coolant-through capability is not present on this insert, so external coolant or mist delivery should be confirmed as adequate for the intended workpiece material and cutting parameters.
