The KENNAMETAL 3381157 is a replaceable-tip carbide drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in a wide range of workpiece materials. The cutting tip measures 20mm (0.7874 inches) in diameter and features an AlTiN PVD coating applied over a fine-grain solid carbide substrate. The 140-degree drill point angle and helical, regular-spiral flute geometry support stable entry and efficient chip evacuation. The HPL insert geometry and size-3 seat are clamped mechanically, allowing tip replacement without disturbing the drill body. This tool is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals in production environments.
This drill is suited for applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The KSEM series design supports inclined exit drilling and stacked-plate drilling in addition to standard through-hole operations. With a 2-flute, 2-margin configuration and a flute length of 10mm, it is optimized for short-to-medium depth drilling where rigidity and surface finish quality are priorities. Typical use cases include production drilling on CNC machining centers and drill presses in metal fabrication and aerospace component manufacturing.
Designed for use with KSEM series drill bodies accepting a size-3 insert seat. The ISO designation for the tip is KSEM2000HPLM. Confirm body series and seat size before ordering.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the drill body manufacturer's clamping torque and seating procedures for KSEM replaceable-tip systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing the cutting tip. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new tip. Follow the machining center manufacturer's recommendations for speed and feed parameters based on workpiece material and depth-to-diameter ratio.
