The KENNAMETAL 3292774 is a solid carbide milling insert in the EDCT series, designed for high-performance milling of non-ferrous metals. Carrying the manufacturer grade KC422M with a physical vapor deposition (PVD) titanium diboride (TiB2) coating, this insert is built for applications where edge sharpness and coating adhesion are critical. The insert measures 0.8567 inches in length, 0.4319 inches in inscribed circle diameter, and 0.2165 inches thick. It features a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, a 15-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. Two cutting edges are available per insert. It is held in the cutter body by screw clamp and is compatible with the Mill 1-18 cutter series.
This insert is intended for milling non-ferrous workpiece materials, consistent with the primary workpiece material code N. The EDCT series parallelogram insert shape and right-hand cutting orientation suit face milling and shoulder milling operations where clean, chip-free surface finishes on aluminum, copper, and similar alloys are required. The EJ chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in these applications. This insert is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 5 units, making it appropriate for shop stock replenishment as well as tooling room use.
Designed for use in the KENNAMETAL Mill 1-18 cutter series. ANSI code EC1808EJ; ISO code EDCT180508PDERLDJ. Compatible cutter bodies must accept right-hand, single-sided EDCT-style inserts with a 1/32-inch corner radius seat.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the cutter body is removed from the spindle and the machine is locked out before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torque driver and screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer when securing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to maintain proper tool geometry and runout.
