The KENNAMETAL 3033954 is a solid carbide milling insert manufactured to ISO code EDPT140416PDERHD and ANSI code EP1416EHD. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 under manufacturer grade KCPK30, engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding milling operations. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake geometry and a 15-degree relief angle, a 70-degree included angle, and an HD chip breaker for effective chip control. With 2 cutting edges and a right-hand orientation, it is sized at 0.6880 inches long, 0.3291 inches wide, and 0.1772 inches thick, with a 0.0630-inch corner radius. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators install this insert in production milling environments.
This insert is designed for use in face milling and shoulder milling applications across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material grades P, M, K, and S. The EDPT series and insert size code 1416 make it compatible with the Mill 1-14 cutter series. It is held in the cutter body via screw clamping. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing passes where chip load management and coating durability are critical factors. The single-sided design is suited for setups requiring consistent, predictable edge engagement across multi-part production runs.
Designed for use with the Mill 1-14 cutter series. Insert style EDPT, size code 1416, conforms to ISO code EDPT140416PDERHD and ANSI code EP1416EHD. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the tool body manufacturer's specified torque — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and edge alignment.
