The KENNAMETAL 2984026 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the KC5010 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and GMP chip breaker geometry support consistent chip control at a 2.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 1.70 mm. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible A4-series toolholders as a direct, indexed replacement.
This insert is suited for precision turning applications where tight groove tolerances and reliable chip evacuation are required. The positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces and is well matched to finishing and semi-finishing passes in steel, cast iron, and similar materials graded C3 and C4. It is a metric-dimensioned, single-use insert intended for industrial CNC environments in both production and job-shop settings.
Designed for use in A4-series grooving toolholders accepting the A4R insert style with a 0200M0 insert size designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing any insert. Use the torque driver or clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not exceed the recommended clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to ensure full, even contact.
