The KENNAMETAL 2659236 is a ceramic-SI grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the G250I06 insert style in the A4 series, it features a 0.25-inch (6.35 mm) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1929 inches (4.90 mm). The KY3500 ceramic-SI grade delivers high heat resistance and wear performance in demanding machining environments. The neutral hand orientation allows straight-in grooving without directional bias. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning applications will find this insert suited for ferrous and hard-material grooving where ceramic grades outperform carbide.
This insert is intended for grooving applications on production lathes and turning centers where ceramic tooling grades are specified. The A4 series geometry and 0.80 mm corner radius (0.0315 inches) make it appropriate for medium to finish grooving passes within its rated depth range of 4.00 to 5.00 mm (0.15 to 0.20 inches). It is a single-use, non-multi-use insert sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units. Designed for use in KENNAMETAL A4-series grooving toolholders that accept the G250I06 insert style. Confirm toolholder pocket specification against the A4 series insert seating requirements before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and clamping hardware for the A4-series toolholder to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert. Ceramic inserts are brittle — avoid impact loading, interrupted cuts beyond the grade rating, and excessive coolant thermal shock unless the grade is rated for it.
