The KENNAMETAL 2624277 is an indexable square-shoulder face mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting applications. Built to the Mill 1-14 series standard, this cutter body accepts 6 inserts of the EC14 or EP14 style, secured by screw clamping. It features a 3-inch maximum cutting diameter, a 1-inch arbor hole, and a maximum depth of cut of 14.22 mm (0.56 inches). The 0/90-degree lead angle geometry produces a true square shoulder, making it well-suited for shoulder milling, facing, and step milling on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Through-coolant capability is built in, supporting high-efficiency cutting strategies. Right-hand cutting direction. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists are the primary installers and operators.
This face mill body is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where a square-shoulder profile and consistent chip load across 6 cutting edges are required. Typical applications include face milling flat surfaces, producing 90-degree walls, and stepping operations on steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The Mill 1-14 series designation indicates compatibility within the Kennametal Mill 1-14 tooling platform. The through-coolant feature is particularly useful in high-feed or deep-reach setups where heat and chip evacuation are critical factors.
Compatible with EC14 and EP14 series indexable inserts. This cutter body is part of the Kennametal Mill 1-14 series platform.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Before mounting or changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and de-energized per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify arbor fit and keyway alignment before tightening the arbor nut to the machine manufacturer's specified torque. Use appropriate insert handling tools when seating or removing EC14 or EP14 inserts to avoid edge damage and personal injury.
