The KENNAMETAL 2623858 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built on a 1-inch Weldon flat shank with a 1-1/4 inch cutting diameter, this toolholder accepts EC14 and EP14 insert styles secured by screw-clamp mounting. It operates at a 0-degree lead angle, producing true 90-degree shoulder walls in a single pass. Three cutting inserts are positioned across three flutes, and through-coolant delivery via a 0.25-inch coolant hole keeps the cutting zone clear at speeds up to 33,400 RPM. With an overall length of 4.53 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.571 inches, this tool is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on square-shoulder features.
The 2623858 is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where square-shoulder profiling, slotting, and face milling are required. The Weldon flat shank provides positive rotational engagement in standard Weldon-style tool holders, reducing pull-out risk at aggressive feed rates. Through-coolant capability makes it well suited for ferrous and non-ferrous materials where chip evacuation and thermal management are critical. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing will find this toolholder compatible with standard CAM toolpath strategies for square-shoulder operations.
Designed for use with EC14 and EP14 insert styles. ISO number M1D125E1403W100L225 identifies the cutter geometry and shank specification for toolholder and insert selection reference.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw to the tool holder manufacturer specification before operation. Index or replace inserts using the appropriate Torx or hex key; inspect insert seats for debris before seating new inserts. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool change before resuming production cuts.
