The KENNAMETAL 2616310 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert with ANSI/ISO designation WPMT080615ZZERGP, manufactured in grade KC522M with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. Designed for indexable milling operations, this single-sided insert features a positive rake geometry with a 30-degree rake angle, an 11-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. Three cutting edges per insert are available on the right-hand configuration, and a GP chip breaker geometry supports chip control across a range of depths of cut. The insert is held in the cutter body by screw clamping and is compatible with KSWM series cutter platforms. At 0.25 inches thick and weighing 0.0208 pounds, it is a compact insert suited for finishing and semi-finishing work on a variety of workpiece materials.
This insert is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering material application codes P, M, K, and S per ISO classification. The KC522M grade with TiAlN PVD coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds, making it appropriate for high-productivity milling applications in aerospace, general machining, and job-shop environments. Installation and indexing of milling inserts should be performed by qualified tooling technicians or machinists with the spindle fully powered down and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable OSHA and shop safety procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve the proper seating torque for the screw-clamp holding method — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for debris, damage, or wear before seating a new insert. Confirm insert orientation matches the right-hand cutting direction before resuming operation.
