The KENNAMETAL 2504006 is a right-hand DVON-series indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built on the Kenclamp insert-holding platform, it uses a mechanical clamp to secure VN..33. style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. The toolholder features a -6.4 degree rake angle and a 17.5-degree lead angle, geometry that directs cutting forces away from the workpiece edge and suits roughing and semi-finishing passes in steel and similar materials. The shank measures 3/4 inch wide by 3/4 inch tall with a 5-inch overall length.
This toolholder is suited for production turning shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments running CNC turning centers or engine lathes that accept 3/4-inch square shank toolholders. The 5-inch overall length and 1.5-inch head length make it appropriate for standard tool-post and turret setups where reach and rigidity are both factors. It is not configured for coolant-through delivery. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and users of this toolholder.
Designed to accept VN..33. indexable inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, specifically compatible with complete insert designation VN.. 332. Fits standard tool-post and turret systems that accept a 3/4-inch square shank. Consult machine documentation to confirm shank clearance and turret pocket depth before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lockout the turning center before changing toolholders or inserts. Seat the shank fully into the turret pocket or tool post and torque clamping fasteners according to the machine manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert seat and clamp components for wear or debris before mounting a new insert, and verify tool offset data in the control after any toolholder change.
