The KENNAMETAL 2499866 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the KSEM series, designed for precision hole-making in ferrous and cast iron materials. Manufactured under grade KC7315 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this tip delivers thermal and wear resistance during high-feed drilling operations. The HPG insert geometry features a 140-degree drill point angle and a helical flute design with 2 flutes and 2 margins. At 24.61 mm (0.9689 inch) cutting diameter, it fits KSEM Insert Seat Size 5 holders. Through-coolant channels support both flood and MQL (minimum quantity lubrication) delivery, keeping heat out of the cut and extending tool life in production environments. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists working in metal fabrication or maintenance drilling will find this an appropriate OEM-grade replacement tip.
This replaceable tip drill insert is suited for drilling steel and cast iron in both production and maintenance machining contexts. The HPG geometry supports standard drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling applications, making it versatile for fixtures and structural components. The regular spiral and 2-margin design aid chip evacuation and hole finish. It is sold individually and is intended for use in compatible KSEM series drill bodies that accept Insert Seat Size 5 tips.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for KENNAMETAL KSEM series drill bodies that accept Insert Seat Size 5. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the appropriate KSEM torx or clamping key to secure the insert to the specified clamping method - do not overtighten by feel alone; follow the drill body manufacturer torque procedure. Confirm coolant port alignment before returning the assembly to service.
