The KENNAMETAL 2499862 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metalworking applications. The drill accepts the KSEM0875HPG solid carbide tip with a KC7315 fine-grain grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, giving it strong wear resistance and thermal stability. The cutting diameter is 0.8752 inches (22.23 mm) with a 140-degree drill point angle and a standard helical flute geometry. The tip seats in an insert seat size 4 and is held with a clamp-style clamping method. Through-coolant capability, including MQL (minimum quantity lubrication), is built in. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this drill in machine tool spindles for production drilling in steel and cast iron.
This replaceable tip drill is suited to production environments where insert tip changes are preferred over regrinding solid drills. It supports drilling into flat surfaces, inclined exits, and stacked plates, making it appropriate for aerospace, automotive, and general machining shops. The helical, two-flute, two-margin design promotes chip evacuation and hole finish. The through-coolant channels support both flood coolant and MQL strategies, extending tip life in demanding steel and cast iron operations.
The KSEM0875HPG tip is compatible with KSEM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 4. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K).
This drill is installed and serviced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down or e-stop the machine spindle and verify zero-energy state before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Clamp the insert tip to the specified torque as listed in the KENNAMETAL KSEM tooling assembly documentation supplied with the tool body. Verify through-coolant passages are clear and coolant pressure is within the machine tool specification before resuming cutting operations.
