The KENNAMETAL 2499849 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the KSEM series, engineered for high-productivity hole-making in steel and cast iron. The insert tip carries the ISO designation KSEM0672HPG and is manufactured in a fine grain solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. The cutting diameter measures 43/64 inch (0.6720 inch / 17.07mm) and the drill point is ground to a 140-degree included angle. Two helical flutes and a standard point geometry provide chip control and stable entry. Through-coolant capability supports both flood and MQL (minimum quantity lubricant) delivery. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, or machine tool technicians and machinists performing precision drilling operations are the primary users.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling operations in steel and cast iron workpieces in production machining environments. The HPG insert geometry is specifically designed to handle inclined exit surfaces, stacked plate configurations, and conventional straight-through drilling. The KC7315 grade and TiAlN finish are optimized for ISO material groups P (steel) and K (cast iron). The KSEM insert seat size 1 body accepts a clamped insert, allowing tip replacement without discarding the shank body, which reduces per-hole tooling cost in repeat production runs.
