The KENNAMETAL 2499845 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in steel and cast iron. The solid carbide tip carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering hardness and oxidation resistance at the cutting edge. The drill produces a 0.6252 inch (15.88 mm) cutting diameter with a 140-degree drill point angle and a helical flute configuration. Two flutes with two margins provide stable guidance through the cut. Coolant-through capability, including MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) support, keeps the tip cool and helps clear chips in demanding production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this drill in machining centers and drill presses where repeatable hole quality and tool change efficiency are priorities.
The KSEM0625HPG tip with KC7315 grade targets primary workpiece materials including steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K). The HPG insert geometry suits applications such as straight drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling. The clamp-style insert holding method secures the tip firmly in the KSEM body, maintaining concentricity across high-volume production cycles. This configuration is well suited to job shops and production floors running interrupted or challenging entry and exit conditions where a brazed-tip or solid drill would show higher wear rates.
Designed for use with KSEM series insert seat size 1 drill bodies. The KSEM0625HPG tip is identified by ISO Number KSEM0625HPG and is compatible with KSEM-series holders configured for this seat size. Verify holder seat size before ordering.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the correct clamp torque driver and seating tool as specified by the KSEM holder documentation to ensure proper tip engagement. Inspect the insert seat for wear or debris before installing the replacement tip. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear before returning the assembly to service.
