The KENNAMETAL 2499775 is a KSEM-series carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in steel and cast iron. The tip is manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, which provides thermal resistance and extended edge life in demanding metal-cutting applications. The cutting diameter is 21mm (0.8268 inches) with a 140-degree drill point angle and a helical, two-flute geometry. The insert is held by a clamp and the tool includes through-coolant capability, supporting both flood coolant and minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) delivery. This drill is suited for machining centers and CNC drilling operations in industrial manufacturing environments.
The 2499775 is built for use in drilling standard entry and exit conditions, inclined-exit surfaces, and stacked-plate setups. Its HPG insert geometry and two-flute, two-margin configuration are optimized for chip control and hole quality in P-category steel and K-category cast iron workpiece materials. Installation of replaceable carbide tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the drill body is fully cleaned and free of chips or debris before seating the tip, as contamination at the insert interface can cause runout and premature tip failure. Confirm through-coolant passages are clear and that coolant pressure is appropriate for the application before beginning a cut. Never overtighten or improvise clamping hardware — use the correct torquing method specified in the KSEM toolholder documentation.
