The KENNAMETAL 2499767 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-performance hole-making in steel and cast iron. The tip is manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering heat resistance and wear life in demanding drilling applications. It features a 19mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and two helical flutes with two margins. Coolant-through capability supports both flood coolant and MQL (minimum quantity lubricant) delivery. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists in metalworking shops or production environments install and index this tip as part of a KSEM modular drill body system.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling operations in steel and cast iron workpieces, covering primary material codes P and K per ISO classification. It is applicable in standard drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked plate drilling scenarios. The HPG insert geometry and regular spiral flute type make it a practical choice for production drilling where consistent hole quality and tip changeability matter. The clamp-style insert holding method allows the tip to be swapped at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle.
Designed for use with KSEM series modular drill bodies accepting an Insert Seat Size 2. Compatible with steel and cast iron workpieces per ISO material codes P and K.
Installation and indexing of replaceable carbide drill tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the tip. Use the correct torque driver or clamp key specified by the drill body manufacturer for the seat size to ensure proper tip retention. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installing a new tip, as seat contamination can cause premature tip failure or runout.
