The KENNAMETAL 2479508 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal-cutting applications. Built around a 1-inch cutting diameter and a Weldon flat shank of the same diameter, this toolholder accepts EC14.. and EP14.. insert styles secured by screw clamping. It delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.58 inches and runs at up to 39,200 RPM, making it suitable for high-speed shoulder milling on CNC machining centers. Through-coolant capability keeps the cutting zone clear and extends insert life during continuous cuts. The 0-degree lead angle produces true 90-degree walls on square-shoulder features. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this tool in production and job-shop environments alike.
This end mill is used in ferrous and non-ferrous metal-cutting operations where accurate square shoulders, slots, and pockets are required. The 3-flute, 3-insert configuration balances chip evacuation with rigidity at the 1-inch diameter. At 4.03 inches overall length with a 1.75-inch head length, the tool suits standard spindle-depth requirements on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Through-coolant delivery is particularly effective in deep-shoulder or high-feed passes where heat buildup and chip packing are primary concerns. This is a professional-grade indexable toolholder intended for use by trained CNC machinists and toolroom personnel.
Designed for use with EC14.. and EP14.. series indexable inserts. ISO number M1D100E1403W100L175 identifies the toolholder geometry for insert and catalog cross-reference. Confirm insert pocket style and screw size against current insert specifications before ordering replacement inserts.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine guarding procedures. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the end-mill holder and torque the set screw against the flat to the holder manufacturer specification. Insert seating, clamping screw torque, and runout verification should be confirmed with an indicator before cutting. Through-coolant connections must be leak-checked before spindle start.
