The KENNAMETAL 2455819 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation OFKT06L5AFENGB and manufacturer grade KCPK30. It features an octagon insert shape with 8 cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, making it a high-utilization option for indexable milling operations. The insert is CVD-coated with a TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 multilayer system for wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. With a 0.1969-inch thickness, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a positive rake geometry with a 5-degree rake angle, this insert is suited for productive metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloy and titanium applications. Licensed machinists and CNC milling operators are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for use in face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling operations on machining centers and CNC mills. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and superalloys and titanium (S). The GB chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across these material groups. The insert is compatible with the KSOM cutter series and is held in place by a screw-clamping method. It is suited for both roughing and finishing passes within its rated depth-of-cut range.
Designed for use in the KSOM cutter series. Applicable to workpiece materials classified as P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (superalloys and titanium) per ISO material grade designations. Material grades C1, C5, and C6 apply.
Installation is performed by a licensed machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified seating procedure when driving the clamping screw; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket seat and screw threads for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
