The KENNAMETAL 2449475 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-performance hole-making in steel and cast iron applications. The tip carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which improves wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. The 140-degree drill point angle and helical flute geometry promote clean entry and efficient chip evacuation. At 30mm (1.1811 inches) cutting diameter, this drill uses an HPG insert geometry and a size-7 insert seat, secured by a clamp-style holding method. It is suited for CNC machining centers where consistent bore quality and tool life are priorities.
This replaceable tip drill is intended for use in production machining environments targeting steel and cast iron workpieces. The KSEM series tip system allows fast tip changes without removing the body from the spindle, reducing downtime on multi-part runs. The tool supports through-coolant delivery and is also rated for MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) operation, making it adaptable to shops running dry or near-dry machining strategies. Typical applications include straight drilling, inclined-exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling where entry and exit conditions are challenging.
Designed as a replaceable tip for KSEM series drill bodies using a size-7 insert seat. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K).
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer and Kennametal tooling assembly guidelines. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing the replaceable tip. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw as specified by the KSEM body documentation — do not overtighten by hand estimation. Verify coolant port alignment and flow before returning the tool to service.
