The KENNAMETAL 2425814 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation TPMT3251LF and ISO designation TPMT16T304, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. Carrying the KC5025 manufacturer grade, this insert is engineered for finishing and light machining operations. It features a 60-degree triangular shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, an 11-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches), the insert length is 0.6495 inches (16.50 mm), and the corner radius is 1/64 inches (0.0156 inches). Three usable cutting edges per insert help extend tooling value in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring applications on a broad range of workpiece materials. The KC5025 grade with TiAlN PVD coating delivers moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and superalloys and titanium (S) material categories. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). This insert is appropriate for both CNC turning centers and manual lathes where screw-on insert holding is used.
Designed for use in screw-on style TPMT-compatible turning toolholders. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring. Compatible toolholders must accept the TPMT insert style with a 0.1732-inch (4.40 mm) mounting hole diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and clamping screw for the toolholder to avoid cracking the carbide body - do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert seat and screw threads for debris or damage before each insert change.
