The KENNAMETAL 2425802 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation TCMT21505LF and ISO designation TCMT110202, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process under the KC5025 grade. It features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, three cutting edges, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert measures 11.00 mm (0.4331 inches) in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a corner radius of 0.0079 inches. A screw-on holding method and honed cutting edge style make it suitable for finishing and light machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for tight-tolerance turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications across a range of workpiece materials. Its KC5025 grade provides moderate wear resistance and toughness, making it applicable to steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. A maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches) positions this insert squarely in finishing and light machining cycles. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation at these lower depths. Positive side clearance and a positive rake contribute to clean cutting action on demanding materials such as stainless steel and superalloys.
Designed for use in screw-on style turning toolholders accepting TCMT-style triangular inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle. Verified compatible with toolholder systems designed for ANSI insert code TCMT21505 and ISO insert code TCMT110202. Suitable for multi-use application in turning, facing, and boring operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before mounting to ensure full, flat contact.
