The KENNAMETAL 2425793 is a solid carbide turning insert with PVD-applied TiAlN coating, designed for precision metal-cutting operations in CNC turning centers and manual lathes. It carries the ANSI code DPMT3251LF and ISO code DPMT11T304. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a sharp, positive rake geometry suited for finishing and light machining passes. The KC5025 grade delivers moderate wear resistance balanced with toughness, making it a reliable choice across a range of workpiece materials. The screw-on holding method ensures repeatable seating and secure clamping under cutting loads. A honed cutting edge style reduces chipping risk on interrupted or semi-continuous cuts.
This insert is intended for use in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. Its grade characteristics make it well suited for stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous materials. With a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm and a 1/64-inch corner radius, it is optimized for finishing and light roughing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. Typical users include CNC machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production turning operations running DPMT-style toolholders.
Designed for use in DPMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 5/32-inch thickness and 4.40 mm screw hole diameter. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping specifications for screw-on inserts. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the grade and geometry in use.
