The KENNAMETAL 2425785 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT3252LF geometry with KC5025 grade, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual turning equipment. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing moderate wear resistance and toughness across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle and honed cutting edge style makes this insert well suited for finishing and light machining passes. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it is engineered to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish in demanding turning environments.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and superalloys including titanium. The LF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and light machining cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The neutral hand orientation and screw-on mounting method make it compatible with standard CPMT-style toolholders. Licensed tradespeople and machinists working in job shops, production machining, and aerospace or industrial manufacturing environments are the primary installers.
Designed to seat in screw-on CPMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code CPMT3252 and ISO insert code CPMT09T308. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and superalloys and titanium (S) workpiece material categories.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and all stored energy dissipated before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the pocket walls and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine-guarding requirements when servicing cutting tools.
