The KENNAMETAL 2405362 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal cutting in milling operations targeting cast iron workpiece materials. Manufactured to ISO designation SEPT1404AEENGB2 and ANSI designation SEPT443AEEN7GB2, this single-sided, neutral-hand insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle and four cutting edges per insert. The KCK15 grade substrate is enhanced with a multilayer MTCVD coating stack of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, providing wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting zone. The insert measures 0.5512 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1875 inches thick, with a 1.00 mm (0.0394 inch) corner radius and a positive rake geometry for reduced cutting forces.
This insert is suited for milling cast iron components in both production and job-shop environments. The GB2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for cast iron applications where controlled chip formation and edge stability are priorities. It is compatible with the KENNAMETAL KSSM cutter series and is held in place by a screw-clamping method. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators in industrial manufacturing, automotive, and heavy equipment sectors are the typical end users. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, making it suitable for use on tooling platforms designed around either standard.
Designed for use with the KENNAMETAL KSSM cutter series. Insert conforms to ISO designation SEPT1404AEENGB2 and ANSI designation SEPT443AEEN7GB2. Primary workpiece material is cast iron (material grade K, material grade code C1).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle powered down and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against all pockets surfaces before tightening the clamping screw to the torque specification listed in the KSSM cutter body documentation. Inspect the pocket and screw threads for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can affect insert flatness and runout. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.5512 inches as specified for this insert geometry.
