The KENNAMETAL 2383595 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal cutting in CNC milling applications. Manufactured to the ISO designation SDCT120412PDFRLE, this insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle and a 3/64-inch (1.20 mm) corner radius. The cutting edge is finished with a Titanium Diboride (TiB2) coating applied via PVD process, which provides low friction and extended tool life when machining non-ferrous materials. The insert measures 0.1875 inches thick with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle diameter. It is installed using a screw-clamp holding method and is configured for right-hand cutting. Licensed machinists, CNC programmers, and tooling technicians specify and install this insert.
This insert is engineered for primary use on non-ferrous workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material code N. Typical applications include milling aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and similar non-ferrous metals where the TiB2 PVD coating resists built-up edge and maintains a sharp cutting geometry. The LE chip breaker geometry and 20-degree rake angle support free-cutting action with reduced cutting forces, making this insert well suited to high-speed face milling, shoulder milling, and pocket milling operations on machining centers. The right-hand configuration must be matched to the appropriate toolholder series and pocket orientation before use.
Designed for use in SDCT-series screw-clamp milling toolholders that accept a size 43 (insert size code 433) square insert with a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Verify pocket geometry, hand designation, and insert size code against the toolholder specification before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw; refer to the toolholder manufacturer's specification for the required torque value. Inspect the pocket seat and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination will cause deflection and premature edge failure. Confirm right-hand pocket orientation matches the insert hand before engaging the first cut.
