The KENNAMETAL 2383594 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation SDCT1204PDFLLE and manufactured grade KC410M. It features a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Titanium Diboride (TiB2) coating optimized for cutting non-ferrous metals. The insert has a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a 0.0315-inch (0.80 mm) corner radius, and a left-hand orientation. At 0.1875 inches thick and 0.5 inches inscribed circle diameter, it fits standard SDCT-series milling toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this insert in high-speed milling applications where surface finish and tool life on aluminum, copper, and other non-ferrous workpieces are priorities.
This insert is intended for milling non-ferrous metals in both production and job-shop environments. The TiB2 PVD coating resists built-up edge and maintains sharp cutting geometry at elevated feed rates typical of aluminum machining. The LE chip breaker geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during high-rake milling passes. The screw-clamp holding method provides positive clamping force, making this insert suitable for indexable milling cutters where repeatability and precise edge positioning are required across multi-insert setups.
Designed for use in SDCT-series indexable milling toolholders requiring a left-hand square insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and screw-clamp holding. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (ISO material code N).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the milling spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge alignment.
