The KENNAMETAL 2383593 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in non-ferrous machining applications. Carrying the ISO designation SDCT1204PDFRLE, this square-style insert features a titanium diboride (TiB2) coating applied via PVD process, the KC410M manufacturer grade, and a right-hand cutting orientation. The insert measures 0.5000 inches inscribed circle with a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) thickness and a 1/32 inch (0.0315 inch) corner radius. The 15-degree relief angle and 20-degree rake angle are engineered for efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces in non-ferrous workpiece materials. Screw-hole mounting with a 0.1732 inch hole diameter provides secure insert retention during operation.
This insert is intended for milling of non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper alloys, and similar materials where a TiB2 PVD-coated solid carbide insert delivers low built-up edge and extended tool life. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines in production shop, job shop, and aerospace component manufacturing environments. The LE chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip flow at the cutting edge. The SDCT series and KC410M grade combination targets applications requiring sharp, free-cutting action on softer, gummy, or abrasive non-ferrous workpiece materials. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use in milling toolholders and cutter bodies that accept SDCT1204 series square milling inserts with screw-hole retention. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions against the SDCT1204PDFRLE insert specification before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or contamination before seating the new insert.
