The KENNAMETAL 2273023 is a left-hand DDQN-style negative rake indexable turning toolholder designed for precision metal-turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built on the Kenclamp series platform, this toolholder features a -7 degree rake angle and a 27.5-degree lead angle, providing controlled chip formation and stable cutting geometry. The 1.25-inch by 1.25-inch steel shank offers rigid support during heavy interrupted cuts or continuous finish passes. It accepts DN..43. series inserts with a 0.50-inch inscribed circle diameter. A clamp-style insert holding method ensures secure seating and fast insert changes without removing the toolholder from the turret.
This toolholder is suited for external turning applications in production and job-shop environments where left-hand cutting direction is required. The DDQN geometry with negative rake is commonly applied when machining ferrous and hard materials where insert edge strength is a priority. Machinists and CNC programmers working on OD turning operations will find the 6.0-inch overall length and 1.38-inch head length appropriate for standard turret block setups. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model, so external coolant delivery applies.
Designed for use with DN..43. series indexable inserts (complete insert compatibility: DN.. 432) with a 0.50-inch inscribed circle diameter. No specific machine model compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret. Verify insert seating and clamp torque according to your machine tool manufacturer specifications before beginning any cut. Do not exceed the rated shank dimensions of the turret pocket to maintain proper tool centerline height.
