The KENNAMETAL 2267629 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill designed for milling operations that require a true 90-degree shoulder. Built around a 1.5-inch cutting diameter and a 0-degree lead angle, this tool produces clean, square walls in a single pass. It accepts four EC18 or EP18 series indexable inserts held by screw clamping, allowing fast insert changes without removing the body from the spindle. The Weldon flat shank measures 1.25 inches in diameter and 2.28 inches in length, providing positive anti-pullout engagement in standard end-mill holders. Maximum depth of cut is 0.71 inches (18.03 mm). Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC mill operators typically run this tool in steel, stainless, and cast iron applications where shoulder accuracy is critical.
This end mill fits machining centers and manual knee mills equipped with a 1.25-inch Weldon flat end-mill holder. It is suited for roughing and semi-finishing square-shoulder profiles, slots, and step features in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The 4-flute configuration supports balanced chip load distribution at the rated maximum spindle speed of 29,020 RPM, making it viable for both light-duty production runs and general job-shop work. The integrated coolant hole diameter of 0.25 inches (6.35 mm) accommodates through-spindle coolant delivery when the machine tool and holder support it.
Compatible with EC18 and EP18 series indexable inserts. Requires a standard 1.25-inch Weldon flat end-mill holder. Designed as an OEM-style body for square-shoulder milling applications using the M1D cutter platform.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and locked out per machine tool lockout-tagout procedures. Verify that the Weldon flat set screw in the holder is properly torqued to the holder manufacturer's specification before running. Inspect insert seats for chips or debris before seating new EC18 or EP18 inserts, and confirm each insert screw is fully seated before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the rated maximum RPM for this cutter body.
