The KENNAMETAL 2263182 is an indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the A4SM toolholder style, it accepts A4..06.. series inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method. The shank measures 1 inch by 1 inch square and 4.3189 inches in length, giving it a rigid seating footprint in standard tool blocks. Minimum groove width is 0.2360 inches (6 mm) and maximum depth of cut reaches 0.9400 inches (24 mm). This is a left-hand holder, so verify hand orientation before ordering. Overall length is 6 inches (152.40 mm).
This toolholder suits external grooving, parting, and cutoff applications on production and job-shop turning equipment. It is appropriate for both ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials when paired with the correct A4..06.. insert grade. The 1 inch square shank fits standard OD turning tool blocks and quick-change tooling systems that accept that shank size. It does not feature coolant-through capability, so flood or mist cooling must be directed externally at the cutting zone. Typical users include CNC machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production turning operations requiring repeatable groove geometry.
Designed to accept A4..06.. series indexable inserts as specified by KENNAMETAL for the A4 toolholder series. Shank dimensions of 1 inch height by 1 inch width are compatible with standard OD turning tool blocks accepting a 1 inch square shank.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the toolholder from the tool block. Confirm left-hand orientation matches the intended cutting direction before clamping. Torque fasteners per the machine tool manufacturer and KENNAMETAL insert clamping specifications - do not use impact tools on insert clamp screws. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before indexing to a fresh insert edge.
